16 October 2014. Northrop Grumman plans to another flight test new MQ-4C Triton, the UAS (Unmanned Aircraft System). The platform is still same with RQ-4 Global Hawk, maritime derivative of the high altitude.
Apparently, this is the second prototype to enter the flight test. First prototype has completed its flight test in last September.

The first Northrop Grumman MQ-4C Triton flew from Northrop's facility in San Diego to Naval Air Station in Maryland. Second prototype also plans to do the same route test.
Following the next prototype in the next few weeks after the second prototype completed.
The results of flight test will be used by US Navy to decide whether using this UAS in full operation in 2017.
For this project Northrop Grumman received USD 13.5 billion contract contains 5 (five) prototype aircraft and 65 production aircraft.
Northrop Grumman MQ-4C Triton able to carry maritime surveillance payload, including active radar and receiver tools. These avionics systems are built by Northrop Grumman. In addition, the successor of RQ-4 Global Hawk also has de-icing systems in wing and strengthened air frames.

If so, this aircraft will be paired with Boeing P-8A Poseidon for surveillance mission. The Northrop Grumman MQ-4C Triton will responsible to maritime surveillance in West and East Coasts as well as Guam to San Diego to Sicily.
