Royal Australian Navy Received MH-60R Combat Helicopter

 On Wednesday, 20 September 2017  

21 October 2014. The new combat helicopter of Royal Australian Navy arrived in HMAS Albatross, Naval Air Station in Nowra, New South Wales.

Lockheed Martin/Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk maritime combat helicopter has been delivered from US Navy Air Station in Jacksonville, Florida. In this naval station, the Royal Australian Navy crew also experiencing training with famous US Navy Romeo squadrons.

This is a part of purchase agreement between two countries, worth to USD 2.7 billion contains US military Sales of 24 shipborne helicopters. Australia received first two Lockheed Martin/Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk in December 2013.

The MH-60R to replace the old fleet Sikorsky S-70 Black Hawk and all of order is expected to be finished and delivered in 2017.

Royal Australian Air Force Boeing C-17 Globemaster III's cargo used transported the MH-60R. Thanks to the spacious cargo and massive air lifter capability.

Commodore Vince Di Pietro, commander fleet air arm, said that it is fantastic welcoming new member of the fleet to its home.

Following the further work, US Navy Romeo will come to the Australia providing anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare capability to the new fleet. Lockheed Martin/Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk equipped by Mk54 torpedoes provided by Raytheon and Lockheed AGM-114 Hellfire missiles, this is a special missile for air-to-surface/ground combat.
