Airbus Retrofits A380-800 Doors Plates and Seals

 On Monday, 9 October 2017  

10 November 2014. Following All Operators Texel (AOT) issued by Airbus, all of Airbus A380-800 operators are ready to retrofit the aircraft's doors with plates and seals in order to micro crack issue.

The retrofitting attempt emerged after emergency landing of A380-800 Singapore Airlines in Azerbaijan.

The A380-800 loss its cabin pressure then after intensive investigation, apparently damaged came from damaged door.

Airbus Spokesperson said that the retrofitting will start for the first customers very soon before the 2014 ends. Door cover plates and seals are to be replaced to resolve the noise issue.

Singapore Airlines as the first A380-800 operator decline to comment the issue. In other hand Singapore Airlines works intensively with Airbus to ensure the compliance factor with AOT regarding the defect doors.

The AOT conducts ultrasonic inspection of the door skin and external surface. The visual inspection will conduct to prevent coverplate from cracks and delamination. Airbus claims there is only ten percent of total production of Airbus A380-800 are affected by this issue.
