Sukhoi SuperJet 100 Reduces Engine Thrust

14 November 2014. Sukhoi has received approval from Russian Aviation Authorities in order to modify thrust performance for Sukhoi Superjet 100.

This modification effort comes due to takeoff runway that less or more than 2,000 meters.

Superjet 100's reducing thrust mode so the aircraft can be took off in airport with runway exceeding 2,000 meters. Engine load can be lower and longer engine's lifetime.

Sukhoi spokesperson said that during certification program, the aircraft testing will took at Ramenskoye Aerodrome. There will be many different circumstances in flight condition to test the engine behavior and performance in new settings.

PowerJet SaM146 engines will be the new power plant, the engineer have to explore various settings to get best parameters in order reducing thrust.

The additional advantages are engines can be set into lower turbine temperature and minimizing maintenance cost. In other hand, Sukhoi also prepares certification for Category IIIa for automatic landings and precision area as well as navigation systems.
