Airbus A320 of Small Planet Veer Off Runway

A passenger plane has gone off the track and ended at the edge of the lawn after landing at the airport in Birmingham. The Airbus A320, carrying 98 people, "maneuvered" off the runway while it was taxing to the terminal after landing at about 14:00 today, according to airport officials.

All passengers were taken off the plane safely once it had come to rest and no reports of injuries, according to an airport spokesman Bickenhill, Solihull. The plane, operated by Small Planet Airlines, had arrived from Paderborn in Germany.

Airliner affected was finally towed off the grass very bumpy at 4 pm, and again on the taxiway. In a statement, the airport said: "Birmingham Airport can confirm an A320 aircraft belonging to rental company, Small Planet, has maneuvered off the taxiway on the grass after landing in Paderborn in 1320 today.

"Passengers have disembarked safely and were bussed to the terminal. There are no reports of injuries." Airport fire trucks and emergency crews were on the scene throughout the drama, however single track Birmingham was fully operational.

A spokesman for the small planet carrier, said: "On February 21, Small Planet Airlines flight S5-3260 of Paderborn in Germany went off the taxiway after landing at Birmingham airport and stopped in the grass. "All 98 passengers disembarked safely from the plane and no injuries."

Small Planet Airlines is a Lithuanian carrier that focused on charter aircraft for leisure. The airlines headquartered at Warsaw Airport and Vilnius Airport. They oftentimes fly to Greece, Turkey, Spain and many leisure destinations.
